Note

Discovery is not settlement

Why solo studios should fish in host ecosystems — and still keep a thin owned home for trust, list, and offers.

A polished landing page is not a growth engine. In a zero-click, link-demoted web, cold traffic rarely walks into a stranger’s domain.

That does not mean you abandon ownership.

Two layers

Layer A — discovery. Show up where operators already work: native posts, MCP tools, automation nodes, open-source defaults.

Layer B — settlement. Keep a thin owned surface for the essay archive, email list, advisory door, and (if you ship tools) docs plus checkout.

The mistake to avoid

Using Layer B as if it were Layer A — months of hero sections and ads for a micro-offer.

The opposite mistake is deleting Layer B entirely. Authority and pricing power need a place that compounds under your name.

EngContinuum.com is Layer B on purpose: a vault, not a desert billboard.
